The study of the toxic and carcinogenic potential of a compound is an integral part of a good development process and ensures the quality of your cosmetic products. Anticipating these analyzes allows you to better control your R&D planning and to be able to select the most promising candidate products early and efficiently.
Animal testing prohibited in Europe
Only alternative methods are legally permitted for the testing of cosmetic products and their ingredients, as animal testing is prohibited in Europe (Article 18 of Regulation No 1223/2009 of the European Cosmetics Regulation).
In October 2018, the 10th revision of the Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety (CSSC) on testing cosmetic ingredients was adopted and now focuses on non-animal methodologies and strategies (SCCS /1602/18). A section on the weight of evidence (WoE) for genotoxicity testing has been included, and tests using γH2AX and pH3 biomarkers, such as our PrediScreen test, are cited to efficiently investigate the genotoxic potential of a cosmetic product or ingredient.
Genotoxicity assay
To meet your needs, PrediTox offers a complete and alternative genotoxicity test to the animal experiment, the PrediScreen assay (γH2AX/pH3 assay), to evaluate the safety of your ingredients and finished cosmetic products.
Our technique is designed to be fast and reliable, without any loss of sensitivity or specificity.
Antioxidant effect
On the skin, oxidation is a major phenomenon responsible for cellular aging because it damages the cells and contributes to their degeneration.
In cosmetics, an antioxidant can help skin fight against free radicals, and limit premature cutaneous aging.
In order to meet this demand, PrediTox offers you the PrediProtect test to study the antioxidant effect of your ingredients and finished cosmetics.
DNA repair
Our cells are daily attacked by physical or chemical agents, which induce DNA damage that can lead to a process of carcinogenesis.
Some compounds are able to act on these lesions by acting on the damage repair pathways and thus protect the DNA of our cells. This is the purpose of the PrediRepair assay.
